Student General Information
Registration Information
- Registration starts on Tuesday, December 8, 2009
- Registration closes on Sunday, January 31, 2010 or when
240 applications are received, whichever comes first. Space is limited to 250 projects and since we
have had to turn people away in the past, early registration
is recommended.
- Online registration is required. S/I/T will not accept paper applications.
Project Topics
The themes of science, inventions and technology allow for a wide range of topics and projects. Students should select a topic that helps them explore something they're interested in learning more about.
The ideal project is one:
- that interests the student,
- for which appropriate resources exist, and
- that can be developed adequately within the space limits at the exhibition.
Project Types
Projects can be entered as one of two types:
- Science and Technology
or
- Inventions
Project Divisions
Students in grades 5 through 12 are eligible to enter. Projects will be judged in designated grade level divisions (i.e., grades 5-6, 7-8, 9-12). The divisions are subject to change based on the number of entries in each grade level each year.
Awards
The most important prizes are intangible ones. Participants are rewarded with new knowledge gained through personal effort. In addition, all participants will receive S/I/T t-shirts and certificates of participation. Medals and special prizes will be awarded for the top entries in each division. Several of our sponsors also offer prizes for projects relating to their special interests (i.e., biology, chemistry, physiology, physics, geology, energy conservation, health, public health, etc.).
